Following the Election Adv

Listening:

Have you been following the election much these days?
I don't think my vote will make much of a difference in such a big state.
You can't just leave your responsibility as a citizen to everyone else.
I guess if everyone thought their vote didn't matter then no one would ever vote.
Do you find yourself leaning toward one candidate or the other?
I'd rather not say who I'm voting for since I don't like getting into political arguments.
I just want to engage you in a healthy debate!
I don't really see the point of arguing with each other about personal beliefs.
I think there's a lot of value in hashing out why you feel the way you do.
I don't mind backing up my opinions as long as you don't force your beliefs on me.
I don't like the way the incumbent candidate is running his campaign.
Both the candidates this year seem to have their advantages.
I think the incumbent candidate seems to be in the pocket of powerful corporations.
He seems to be a man of the people to me... you know he started out working in a factory.
You know he started out working in a factory, right?
I'll never find a candidate who advocates every policy I support.
I just try to pick the one I disagree with the least.
I figure all politicians are dishonest so I try to pick the lesser evil.
I think charisma and the ability to speak well are just as important as a candidate's platform.
I was just about to say that but you beat me to the punch.
Looks like we agree on some fronts.
This turned out to be a worthwhile conversation after all.

Background Information:

This is a common conversation among Americans, especially in large states like California and Texas. About 50% of the American voting age population regularly votes in elections.
